Can I use Bob Pay for recurring subscription payments?

Not at the moment. Subscription functionality is not yet available, but it is something we are actively working on and plan to introduce in the near future.

Can I use one Bob Pay account for multiple websites?

Yes. When submitting your application, you can include multiple websites for approval. If you already have an active merchant account, you can request that additional websites be added.Please note:

  • Payouts for all approved websites will be made to the same bank account.
  • If you require payouts to different bank accounts, you will need to open separate Bob Pay merchant accounts.
What documents do I need to apply for a Bob Pay merchant account?

You can apply as either an individual (sole proprietor) or a company. The required documents differ slightly:

For individuals (sole proprietors):

  • Copy of your ID
  • Proof of residential address
  • Proof of bank account

For companies:

  • CIPC documentation (COR14.3)
  • Proof of bank account
  • VAT confirmation from SARS (if applicable)

For each associated person (beneficial shareholder, director, or authorised representative):

  • Copy of their ID
  • Proof of residential address
How quickly can I start accepting payments after applying?

You can set up your account and start accepting payments within minutes. Our user-friendly platform makes onboarding quick and straightforward for businesses of all sizes.

If you have all the required documents ready, completing your application takes just a few minutes. Once submitted, applications are typically reviewed and approved within 2-3 business days, provided all compliance requirements are met.

When will I receive my funds from Bob Pay?

Payouts can be requested as often as you like, and are processed daily. You can also set up automatic payouts on a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule.Please note:

  • Certain transactions may be held for a period of time depending on certain risk factors.
  • Payouts below a minimum threshold may incur a fixed payout fee.
How secure is Bob Pay?

Security is Bob Pay’s top priority. We use advanced security measures to ensure your payments are always safe, including:

  • Industry-standard encryption
  • 3D Secure authentication for online card payments
  • Strict compliance with regulatory and banking requirements

We continuously monitor and update our systems to protect against fraud and unauthorised access.

What payment methods can I use with Bob Pay?

We support multiple payment methods including credit and debit cards, PayShap, Capitec Pay, EFT, and QR/scan-to-pay options to give your customers maximum flexibility.

Bob Pay supports a wide range of payment methods, including:

  • Credit, debit and cheque cards (Visa, Mastercard and American Express)
  • Manual EFT and Instant EFT
  • PayShap (Pay by Proxy, Request to Pay and Pay by Account)
  • Capitec Pay, Absa Pay and Nedbank Direct EFT
  • Scan to Pay
  • Bob Pay account balance

Support for Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay will also be available soon.

How much does it cost to accept payments with Bob Pay?

Bob Pay charges competitive transaction fees with no monthly subscription costs. Fees vary depending on transaction volume and payment method, but we always aim to provide transparent and affordable pricing for merchants.

Bob Pay has no monthly or fixed transaction fees. You only pay a competitive transaction fee when you process a payment.

  • Debit card fees are lower than credit card fees (on average more than half of online card transactions are debit cards).
  • Some payment methods and integrations include capped transaction fees, helping you save on larger transactions.
